Just a few weeks ago, I got bored with my nutrition. (Yes, like you, there are times I get bored, too.)
Eating the same food, cooked and prepared in the same way every day can be boring and a struggle.
BUT there is a solution on how we can keep up with the enjoyment of eating nutrient-dense and delicious food that still fits our total target calories.
#1: Diversify and expand your food groups
There are A LOT of food choices you can choose from.
You don’t necessarily have to stop yourself from eating your favorite food or eliminate certain elements like sugar.
80% whole food + 20% soul food would be sustainable.
#2: Swap out your veggies, proteins, carbs, and fruits to keep your meals interesting
If you’re tired of eating chicken? Try scrambled eggs, salmon, or lean beef.
Can’t stand another broccoli? Try cauliflower, baby spinach leaves, or Brussels sprouts.
Can’t stomach another avocado? Try some bananas or chia seeds.
If you can’t take another spoonful of oats? Try farro, quinoa, or buckwheat.
In SMP, we have a resource, which generates hundreds of different food ideas we can choose from.
Having more food choices can also help you become more creative and flexible to…
#3: Switch up your dishes every other day or in the phases of the day
Try rotating your protein.
Chicken for breakfast, salmon for lunch.
Or maybe you can switch up your carbs or vegetables.
The bottom line is:
Explore; be a bit more flexible. Make some small changes with food that you haven’t had in a while so that you’re getting variety (and excitement) in your diet again.
